Ligature arrived about an hour late to the show, but played so well that nobody ended up caring. To my knowledge, they were missing their (I hear vital) keyboard player, and their drummer on the day was filling in for their main drummer. If you didn't know that before listening (like I didn't), there was practically no way to tell. They didn't introduce any of the songs, don't have any released, and none of their live videos have setlists, so unfortunately the tracklist is a bit barebones. And, to and extent, so is the music, but that's never a vice in itself. It's very troubled, floating, expansive, Bluetile Lounge-gone-ambient type stuff, with samples done live from a tape machine. Really sublime, and fascinating to watch live (that video has my unmastered audio). If you get a chance to catch them in Sydney, don't miss it - I know I need to do my due diligence and see their proper lineup if an off day sounds like this. I mean seriously, that last track is neurotic bliss, deeply anxious, so profound.
